Finn Nørgaard

Finn Nørgaard (born May 27, 1959 - February 14, 2015 in Østerbro ) was a Danish filmmaker who was involved in several documentaries and feature films.

Career

Nørgaard was a cameraman for the Danish detective film Adam Hart i Sahara as early as 1983 . He was also the film editor of the 1986 Danish documentary film Seele zu Seele . He was also a producer for Kun for Forrykte , a 1988 documentary about Eik Skaløe and Steppeulvene . He also worked behind the camera as a material assistant in Peter Eszterhas ' 1989 film En Afgrund af Frihed .

In 1991 Nørgaard graduated from the University of Copenhagen . From 1989 to 2001 he worked at DR (Danish Broadcasting Corporation). In 2001 he became a co-owner of the film company Filmselskabet . During this time he also worked as a camera assistant for the 1992 German film Die Terroristen! active. He also appeared as a bodyguard in Thomas Borch Nielsen's film Skyggen  (1998).

In 2004 he made the documentary Boomerang urge . In 2008 he was responsible for the production of documentaries for the restaurant chain Lê Lê .

In 2009 Nørgaard worked for TV 2 , followed by the film Tryg about four young immigrants in Denmark with a criminal background on a pilgrimage. During this time Nørgaard also directed and produced films for Mærsk , SAS and Microsoft, among others.

Nørgaard is described by his friends and acquaintances as a “generous, loving, refined and intelligent man”. He fought for love, his attitude was very nuanced, he did not judge others and did not separate into "them and us". After the attacks in Paris he posted on Facebook: "It is shocking and terrifying that brave people are being murdered by cowardly Muslim fascists."

Finn Nørgaard was shot dead on February 14, 2015 in an attack at a discussion event entitled “Art, Blasphemy, and Freedom of Expression” at the cultural center in Copenhagen Østerbro . The perpetrator shot a submachine gun from close range. Two bodyguards and a police officer were injured in the same incident. The alleged perpetrator was the 22-year-old Omar Abdel Hamid El-Hussein.
