life and career

Florian Stangl has been a journalist since the early 1990s and started out as a volunteer at a daily newspaper.

In 1994, Stangl switched to games when he became one of the first editors for PC Player . The magazine was published by WEKA-Verlag and had been founded shortly before by Heinrich Lenhardt and Boris Schneider . He gained great fame there through his humorous appearances as "Stanglnator", in which he played the role of a long-haired fighting machine with a guitar and chainsaw. Videos of these appearances were found in the multimedia letters to the editor.

In 1996 Stangl left the editorial office and worked as PR manager for Electronic Arts until 1997 . He then moved to Computec Media , where he initially worked as an editor for PC Games and was also a foreign correspondent in the United States at times. At the beginning of 2000 he took over the editor-in-chief of PC Games, which he held until mid-2001. At the end of 2002, Stangl then moved to GameStar , where he worked as deputy editor-in-chief until the summer of 2004 for Jörg Langer .

Shortly thereafter, Stangl was one of the co-founders of PC PowerPlay , which he ran together with Martin Deppe . After they were hired in autumn 2007, Stangl returned to Computec-Verlag, where he headed the company's online projects as editor-in-chief until 2015. He now works for an advertising agency.
