Aircraft handling in Lhasa

The Lhasa Gonggar Airport ( Chinese 拉萨贡嘎机场 ) is the airport of Lhasa in the Tibet Autonomous Region in China . It is located near the main district of Gonggar and thus around 45 kilometers south of Lhasa.

Transport links

The previous, very mountainous road to the airport was 100 kilometers long, which is why a 51 kilometer connection was built for around US $ 175 million. This has reduced the travel time of the bus to Lhasa from an hour and a half to less than half.

Infrastructure

In addition to the main runway , the airport had a parallel runway around 250 meters shorter, which is now used exclusively as a taxiway . There are two aprons and a terminal with a size of around 10,000 square meters, which is sufficient for around 600 passengers. After modernization measures, four of the gates have passenger boarding bridges .

Flight connections

There are flight connections with the Chinese cities of Beijing , Chengdu , Shanghai , Xi'an , Guangzhou , Chongqing and Shangri-La (formerly Zhongdian) as well as with the Nepalese capital Kathmandu .
