The Damme airfield (EDWC) is located about two kilometers southwest of the Lower Saxon town of Damme in Rottinghausen and is part of the public transport infrastructure of the southern Oldenburger Münsterland . It is available to all general aviation users without prior notification, 365 days a year. The space can be used 24 hours a day.

Airplanes and helicopters fly from Damme in private transport to destinations in Germany and Europe, both for business and pleasure. The Damme Aeroclub has its home at the Damme airfield. In the aeroclub, those interested are trained to become pilots in classes PPL-N and PPL-A . In a UL flight school, training to become an ultralight and gyroplane pilot is offered. The aircraft of the flight schools are also available for charter.

In addition, an aircraft repair shop and a helicopter air transport company are located on the square. The Fly Inn restaurant, which is open to all visitors and has a large sun terrace, is located directly at the runway .

To ensure flight operations, you need your own fire engine.

On April 30, 1974, Damme airfield received approval to start flight operations. The main initiator of the airfield was the building contractor Burkhard Stüve from Damme. The 700 m long asphalt runway with night flight lights was put into operation in 1976.

In 1996 the airfield with the area of ​​land, buildings and all technical facilities was for sale. Some members of the Aeroclub Damme association merged, acquired the airfield and founded the company Verkehrslandeplatz Damme owned company . The flight operations areas have since been leased to the Damme Betriebsgesellschaft airfield, whose shareholders are also the airport owners. The operating company is responsible for flight operations and all related activities.

A Cessna 172 of the Lower Saxony fire brigade air service had been stationed in Damme since 1989 . After the old aircraft was decommissioned in 2007, the future of the Damme location of the fire brigade flight service is uncertain; The state government does not currently plan to purchase a replacement.

On March 20, 2012, a decommissioned Transall aircraft of the German Armed Forces , which was registered for the first time in 1970, landed on the premises of the Damme airfield and has since been exhibited there by the Museum of Technology, Nature and Aviation (number 50 + 37 ).
