The airfield Leverkusen (also airfield Kurtekotten ) is a special airfield in the city of Cologne , Nordrhein-Westfalen , Germany .
General
The airfield can be approached with aircraft with a total weight of up to 3500 kg.
The field has a workshop, a filling station for AVGAS and Mogas and five hangars for accommodating the aircraft. A restaurant with a terrace and a meadow with a playground are available for visitors.
Location and geography
The Leverkusen special airfield is located on the southern outskirts of Leverkusen. It borders the Chempark in the west and the A3 in the east . To the north of the square is the BayArena of the Bayer sports club Bayer 04 Leverkusen.
history
The airfield opened on July 12, 1959. It has been run by the LSC Bayer Leverkusen sports club since then.
The club, which was initially active at Butzweiler Hof Airport in Cologne after the end of the Second World War , built the first halls and club facilities around 1960.
The club has been holding an annual airshow for several years. In 2012, the Royal Jordanian Falcons , the aerobatic team of the Jordanian royal family, were guests.
Today the association has six powered aircraft , three powered gliders , eleven gliders , two microlights and seven balloons .
