‣ Topic overview |
A fourchette is a female genital piercing which is placed vertically at the lower point where the labia minora meet ( frenulum labiorum pudendi ).
Name of the piercing
Fourchette is the French term for "fork". The position of the piercing is at the fork between the vagina and perineum , hence the name.
execution
It is highly dependent on the anatomy of the woman and can therefore not always be carried out. Many women lack the extra skin fold at the back of the vaginal vestibule . Furthermore, the location can lead to high mechanical loads during vaginal intercourse . This and the relatively short puncture canal make the piercing uncomfortable to wear and prone to growing out. Because of these limitations, it is a rather rare piercing.
cure
The healing process takes about four to six weeks due to the short canal. A high level of hygiene must be observed during healing due to the proximity to the anus.
Jewellery
A curved barbell or a ball closure ring with a material thickness of at least 1.6 millimeters is recommended as jewelry .
