François Ayoub

François Ayoub (born July 11, 1899 in Aleppo , Syria , † June 2, 1966 ) was a Syrian Archbishop of the Maronite Church in Cyprus and Syria.

Life

Françoise Ayoub was ordained a priest on May 16, 1925 . His appointment as Archbishop of Cyprus took place on November 28, 1942. The Maronite Patriarch of Antioch , Anton Peter Arida , donated him episcopal ordination on February 14, 1943 . Co- consecrators were Curia Bishop Abdallah Khoury , the Bishop of Baalbek , Elias Richa , Patriarchal Vicar Elia Scedid , the Archbishop of Aleppo , Michel Akhras , Auxiliary Bishop Pierre Feghali and the Archbishop of Damascus , Jean El-Hage .

In 1950 he was co-consecrator of the Patriarch of the Maronite Church, Archbishop Anton Peter Khoraiche . On April 16, 1954, he was appointed Archbishop of Aleppo , and at the same time he was appointed Apostolic Administrator of Latakia . He was a participant in the four sessions of the Second Vatican Council (1962-1965).
