François Chatel

François Chatel ( 1926 - 1982 ) was a French director. He is the father of Philippe Chatel and Thibaut Chatel .

He made his debut in 1954 with the crime thriller Lady Warner a disparu with Jean-Pierre Aumont . It follows in 1957 L'Ingénue de Madrid with the young Michel Piccoli . In 1962, he filmed The Letter in a Taxi with Micheline Presle and Jean Rochefort, a novel by Louise de Vilmorin . In 1962, his film adaptation of the Colette play Chéri with Jean-Claude Brialy in the title role was a success. Serge Gainsbourg plays in Chatels En passant par Paris and Louis de Funès ' niece Isabelle de Funès plays the leading role alongside Georges Claisse in François Chatels Les Dessous des cartes d'une partie de whist (1971). With Le château perdu he delivers a historical drama with Claude Jade as Louise de La Vallière , with Le Scenario a film adaptation of Jean Anouilh with Jean Barney and Daniel Gélin . Chatel has made other film adaptations of plays such as Marivaux ' Les Acteurs de bonne foi with Richard Berry and La Forêt des âmes . His last work is the series Marie-Marie with Danielle Darrieux in 1981 .
