François Paschoud

François Paschoud (born January 11, 1938 in Bern ) is a Swiss classical philologist .

After completing his studies, Paschoud was a scholarship holder at the Thesaurus Linguae Latinae from 1965 to 1967 , where he wrote articles for volumes VII 2 and IX 2. From 1969 he was Associate Professor of Latin Philology at the University of Geneva and from 1974 Full Professor. From 1987 to 2005 he was a delegate of the Fédération Internationale des Associations d'Études Classiques (FIEC) in the International Thesaurus Commission. From 2002 to 2014 he was Vice President of the Thesaurus Commission.

Paschoud dealt mainly with the Latin literature of the imperial era and late antiquity , especially the Historia Augusta , but has also worked on late ancient Greek literature, such as the Historia Nea des Zosimos .
