François Véron Duverger de Forbonnais
François Véron Duverger de Forbonnais (born October 3, 1722 in Le Mans , † September 19, 1800 in Paris ) was a French economist and encyclopedist .
Live and act
His father was a mousseline producer. He received a Jansenistic school education at a Paris college. Travels took him to Spain and Italy. De Forbonnais studied in Paris. In 1756 he was appointed inspector général des monnaies . In 1759 rose to personal advisor to the king, Louis XV. , on. More precisely, he was Conseiller au parlement de Metz to the court in Metz . He fell in this capacity in 1763 after he had enacted a 15% import tax. Forbonnai's first publication was published in 1750 and was a commentary on the economic considerations of Montesquieu L'Esprit des lois . He was also director of the Journal de l'agriculture, du commerce et des finances from 1760. In 1753 Forbonnais translated two important mercantilist writings into French, a publication by the Spanish mercantilist Jerónimo de Uztáriz (1670-1732) and an Englishman Charles King (1687-1748), Chamber Keeper to the Treasury . He was a friend of Jacques Paulze (1723-1794) a principal tenant ( Fermier général ) and father of Marie-Anne Pierrette Paulze Lavoisier . Forbonnais wrote several articles for the Encyclopédie and became France's leading economist.
