France 5 is a French public television broadcaster , part of France Télévisions . In principle, he only sends educational programs to which z. B. Documentaries and televised discussions. In contrast to France 2 and France 3, there are usually no feature films in the program.
The station began broadcasting in 1994 after the commercial broadcaster La Cinq was discontinued. France 5 initially broadcast on the ARTE frequencies when this program was not broadcast there, but now there is a 24-hour program.
France 5 in Germany
France 5 can be received in border areas via digital antenna and nationwide via digital cable.
The France 5 program, like the other 18 or so TNT ( télévision numérique terrestre - terrestrial digital television corresponding to DVB-T in Germany) can be received digitally via ASTRA via TNT SAT and, since June 2009, via Atlantic Bird 3 via FRANSAT. Reception is free, but a special receiver with a Viaccess card is required for both TNT SAT and FRANSAT. Receiver and card (valid for four years) cost around 100 to 140 euros (as of June 2009) and are only available in France for copyright reasons.
