Francelina Cabral

Francelina Anche Marques Cabral (born March 23, 1985 in Souro , East Timor ) is an East Timorese mountain biker.

Sports

Cabral started mountain biking on a borrowed bike in 2009 until Australian friends gave her a bike.

In the Tour de Timor 2009, Cabral took part as the first East Timorese woman. In 2013 she was the first East Timorese overall winner in the women. She won four out of five stages that year, including the last one in which she had to ride after falling with a broken collarbone . She also won the Bali Mountain Bike Festival in 2013.

Cabral took part in the Langkawi International Bike Challenge in 2013 and 2014, and in the Asian Championships in 2015 and 2016.

At the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro , Cabral took part in the cross-country competition , becoming the first ever female cyclist in her country to take part in the Olympic Games. She received a wildcard from the IOC for this . In the competition on August 20, however, she was lapped and finally came in penultimate place. Only the French Pauline Ferrand Pevot was behind her as she did not finish the race.

Cabral Cabral also took part in the 2018 Asian Games in Jakarta .

Private

Cabral lives in Baucau . To take unpaid leave from her job in marketing at Air Timor , she was raised $ 10,000. The money is needed for Cabral's family who support them. Cabral is studying alongside work and sports. She has seven brothers and three sisters and is the second oldest child.
