Life / career
Molinari comes from a golf-loving family (his older brother Edoardo is also a golf professional) and began playing golf at the age of eight with parents and grandparents in the Circolo Golf Torino . During his amateur career Molinari won, among others, in 2002 and 2004, the Italian championships in stroke play , and 2004, those in the Match Play .
Molinari became a professional golfer in autumn 2004 and immediately qualified through the Tour School for the European Tour of the 2005 season, in which he was able to assert himself without any problems. In May 2006 he became the first Italian to win the Telecom Italia Open since Massimo Mannelli (1980) and at the end of the season he finished 38th in the European Tour Order of Merit .
Molinari achieved his greatest success so far in 2018 with a major win at the Open Championship in Carnoustie . His performance in the 2018 Ryder Cup was also exceptional . He won four of his match play games alongside Tommy Fleetwood . In addition, he won another point by winning the individual.
