Francesco Cardinal Roberti (born July 7, 1889 in Pergola , Province of Pesaro and Urbino , Italy , † July 16, 1977 in Rome ) was a Cardinal Curia of the Roman Catholic Church .

Life

Francesco Roberti received his theological and philosophical training in Pergola and Rome. He received on 3 August 1913, the sacrament of Holy Orders , and then worked as a counselor , seminar leader and lecturer in Rome. From 1917 to 1927 he was rector of the Pontificio Seminario Romano Minore . From 1928 he was employed as a trainee lawyer at the Supreme Court of the Apostolic Signature , in 1930 he became Undersecretary of the Curia for matters of universities and seminaries. In 1936 he became an auditor of the Roman Rota , and from 1937 to 1943 he was dean at the Papal Institute Utriusque Iuris . Francesco Roberti founded the internationally renowned canon law journal Apollinaris . In 1946 he became secretary of the Council Congregation .

Pope John XXIII took him on December 15, 1958 as a cardinal deacon with the title deaconry Santa Maria in Cosmedin in the college of cardinals and appointed him cardinal prefect of the Supreme Court of the Apostolic Signature. On April 5, 1962 Francesco Roberti received by Pope John XXIII after it for him. Titular Archbishop of columnata had appointed the Episcopal ordination ; Cardinal Giuseppe Pizzardo and Cardinal Benedetto Aloisi Masella were co-consecrators . On June 26, 1967 he was elevated to cardinal priest with the titular church Santi XII Apostoli . He resigned from the leadership of the Apostolic Signature in 1969.

He died on July 16, 1977 in Rome and was buried in the Pergola cemetery.
