Francisco Maximiano Valdés Subercaseaux

Francisco Maximiano Valdés Subercaseaux OFMCap (born September 23, 1908 in Santiago de Chile , † January 4, 1982 in Pucón ) was a Chilean clergyman and Roman Catholic bishop of Osorno .

Life

Maximiliano Valdés Subercaseaux joined the Capuchin Order in and received on 17 March 1934, the sacrament of Holy Orders .

Pope Pius XII appointed him on June 20, 1956 first bishop of Osorno . The Apostolic Nuncio in Chile , Archbishop Sebastiano Baggio , donated him episcopal ordination on September 16 of the same year . Co- consecrators were the Bishop of Talca , Manuel Larraín Errázuriz , and the Vicar Apostolic of Araucania , Guido Beck de Ramberga OFMCap. The inauguration in the Diocese of Osorno took place on October 18, 1956.

He participated in all four sessions of the Second Vatican Council as a council father.

In the beatification procedure initiated for him, Pope Francis awarded him the heroic degree of virtue on November 7, 2014 .
