Francisco da Costa Guterres is an East Timorese politician from the Congresso Nacional da Reconstrução Timorense (CNRT) .

Career

In 2001 Guterres was part of the East Timor Study Group at the Australian National University . Later he was at Griffith University in the Department of International Business and Asian Studies.

From August 8, 2007, Guterres was Secretary of State for Security , a new post created under Prime Minister Xanana Gusmão . At first Guterres was non-party, but later joined the CNRT. Before that he worked as a scientist in a think tank . He is described as a technocrat . With the government reshuffle on February 16, 2015, the post of State Secretary for Security under the new Prime Minister Rui Maria de Araújo was cut for reasons of rationalization.

In 2017, Guterres was elected one of the deputy general secretaries of the CNRT at the party congress. In the parliamentary elections in East Timor in 2017 Guterres managed to list position 11 of the CNRT of moving into the Parliament , but he resigned on September 6, 2017, the second day of the meeting, his deputy office.

In the parliamentary elections in 2018 was a candidate Guterres no more. Currently (as of 2019) he is a non-executive member of the board of the Central Bank of East Timor .

Guterres is married and has two sons.
