Frank-Rutger Hausmann

Frank-Rutger Hausmann (born February 5, 1943 in Hanover ) is a German Romanist and historian .

Live and act

Hausmann was born in Hanover in 1943 as the son of the military doctor Hans Hausmann. After graduating from high school at the modern language town. Gymnasium Gummersbach In 1962 he studied law, Romance studies, history and Middle Latin philology in Göttingen and Freiburg, where he received his doctorate in 1968 with Vito Rocco Giustiniani with a thesis on the Italian humanist and Bishop Giovanni Antonio Campano . In 1974 he also completed his habilitation in Freiburg. In 1976 he was given a position as Scientific Councilor. In 1981 he accepted a position at RWTH Aachen . In 1992, Hausmann was appointed professor of Romance literature at the Albert Ludwig University of Freiburg . In the 1999/2000 college year, Hausmann was a research fellow at the Historical College in Munich. He has been retired since 2006.

Hausmann's research interests include French and Italian literature , the history of the humanities, and the history of National Socialism. Hausmann is co-editor of the publications on the history of science and universities. Hausmann was awarded numerous scientific honors and memberships for his research. In 1997 he became a member of the Academy of Non-Profit Science in Erfurt and in 2004 a full member of the Heidelberg Academy of Sciences . In 2000 he was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit on ribbon.
