Frank Goosen (born May 31, 1966 in Bochum ) is a German cabaret artist and novelist .

Life

Frank Goosen grew up as an only child on Alleestrasse in Bochum. His father was a self-employed electrician with a small company. In 1976 he came to the grammar school on Ostring . During the C, B and A youth he played handball at VfL Bochum. After graduating from high school in Ostring in 1986, he studied history, German and politics until 1992 at the Ruhr University in Bochum .

From 1992 to 2000 he performed together with Jochen Malmsheimer as Duo Tresenlesen with great success, especially in North Rhine-Westphalia. The duo won the Audience Award Applause & Booed at the Prix ​​Pantheon in 1997 and the Salzburg Bull in 1998 . After differences, the counter readers were disbanded .

Since then, Goosen has been a successful novelist and solo cabaret artist. His topics are above all the sensitivities of his generation, but also the Ruhr area, its people and peculiarities as well as the topic of football. Since 2007 he has published humorous columns and essays, including a. in the kicker sports magazine and in the stadium newspaper of VfL Bochum , which appears for every home game.

His novel Learning to Lie was established in 2003 filmed . The short story collection Radio Heimat was filmed with borrowings from his novel Mein Ich und seine Leben and was released in German cinemas in 2016. His novel So much time was in 2018 by Philipp Kadelbach with Jan Josef Liefers , Matthias Bundschuh , Jürgen Vogel , Richy Müller and Armin Rohde filmed .

Goosen was a board member of the sponsoring association of the Prinzregenttheater .

In October 2010 Goosen was elected to the supervisory board of VfL Bochum . In December 2017 he resigned his mandate because of "fundamentally different ideas about [...] cooperation".

Since 2012 Goosen has been regularly presenting new book releases in “Goosens Neue Bücher” at the Schauspielhaus Bochum in a “Literature Late Night Show” together with Markus Henrik.

With Förster, mein Förster (2016), Goosen wrote, according to Burkhard Müller , "a somewhat slow but charming novel about men at beer". In 2019, No wonder, the history of the characters from Förster, mein Förster about their youth during the turning point, appeared. In 2020 his book Frank Goosen about The Beatles was published , in which he and his favorite band set out to search for clues in his own childhood, youth and in Liverpool.

He is a member of the German Academy for Football Culture .

Goosen lives in Bochum with his wife and two sons.
