Frank Haunschild

Frank Haunschild (born June 2, 1958 in Bonn ) is a German jazz guitarist .

Live and act

Haunschild completed his studies in jazz pedagogy and artistic training with a major in jazz guitar at the Cologne University of Music (1981–86) with an artistic maturity examination. From 1988 he taught as a professor for jazz guitar at the University of Music in Cologne and in the 2000s also as a lecturer for theory and ear training at the Jazz & Rock School in Freiburg. His subjects are jazz guitar, improvisation, ensemble management as well as jazz - harmony and ear training. Haunschild works as a soloist and in various duo projects with John Abercrombie , John Stowell , Tom van der Geld and Norbert Gottschalk . His Electric Trio includes Reza Askari and Dominik Mahnig . He is also a workshop lecturer for jazz guitar in many places.

Frank Haunschild has been married to Sabine Haunschild since 1981. They have two grown children.

The three volumes of his school Die Neue Harmonielehre , like his guitar book Modern Guitar Styles, have become standard works of modern music education and have also been translated into English.
