Frank Mutschmann

Frank Mutschmann (born January 11, 1957 in Lobenstein ; † November 23, 2018 ) was a German veterinarian and an internationally recognized specialist in parasitosis in amphibians and reptiles .

Mutschmann initially completed studies for veterinary engineering and then studied until 1991 veterinary medicine . In 1992 he received his doctorate with a thesis on ectoparasites in reptiles and has been working in his own practice in Berlin since that year. In 2000 he founded the Exomed practice laboratory , which specialized in pathological examinations of fish, amphibians and reptiles. In 2013 Mutschmann founded the specialist group ornamental, zoo and wild birds, reptiles and fish at the German Veterinary Medical Society (DVG). He was also a founding member of the working group for amphibian and reptile diseases of the German Society for Herpetology . He holds a veterinary degree in parasitology and amphibians and reptiles as well as a Diplomate of the European College in herpetology . Mutschmann is the author of several standard works on diseases of lower vertebrate animals .
