Franz Kulstrunk (born February 5, 1861 in Radstadt , † December 8, 1944 in Salzburg ) was an Austrian painter and drawing teacher (retired from 1908).
Life
Franz Kulstrunk was a representative of the conservative Salzburg art community, who succeeded Josef Mayburger and was in opposition to the art movement of Aquarius . He painted mountain, river and moor landscapes. Countless postcard pictures also come from him. His folklore research (studies of costumes) is also common.
plant
His colossal painting of the city of Salzburg (1916), which is in the Salzburg City Hall, is well known. The picture was created in a constructive way from a multitude of partial images from nature. The observer is located three km north of the State Bridge at an altitude of 1000 m.
He also made watercolors of a large number of castles and palaces in Upper Austria after engravings by Georg Matthäus Vischer based on the Topographia Austriae superioris modernae published in 1674.
