Franz Lebsanft

Franz Lebsanft (born May 31, 1955 in Madrid ) is a German Romance philologist with a focus on French and Spanish linguistics .

Life

Franz Lebsanft was born in Madrid in 1955 as the son of the German journalist Brigitte Krüger and the German diplomat Ulrich Lebsanft and studied as a scholarship holder of the German National Academic Foundation in Brussels, Tübingen and Paris (École Pratique des Hautes Études, IV e Section; Paris IV / Sorbonne ). His teachers in Brussels a. a. Jacques Pohl , Pierre Ruelle and Roland Mortier , in Tübingen Hans Helmut Christmann , Eugenio Coseriu , Hans Jürgen Heringer , Gerd Fritz and Paul Hoffmann , in Paris Jacques Monfrin and Jean Dufour; in Paris he also heard Michel Foucault's lecture at the Collège de France . In Tübingen he did his doctorate with Hans Helmut Christmann, who also supervised his habilitation. He went on to study at the University of Salamanca and the Università per Stranieri in Perugia .

Lebsanft was Professor of Romance Linguistics at the University of Regensburg in 1994 and, from 1995 to 2009, as successor to Karl Maurer Professor of Romance Philology at the Ruhr University in Bochum . After rejecting calls to the University of Halle in 1995 and to the University of Zurich in 2007, he accepted an offer to the University of Bonn in 2009 as the successor to Christian Schmitt.

He works in the fields of edition philology, historical semantics, lexicology and pragmatics, media language, language politics and language culture as well as the history of the subject. He has been editor of the linguistics journal of the Romanische Forschungen magazine since 2002 and co-editor of Analecta Romanica since 2005 .

Franz Lebsanft is the supervisor of the habilitation theses of the Romanists Michael Bernsen , Elmar Eggert and Angela Schrott , who are also the editors of the Festschrift dedicated to him.
