Life

Franz Ludwig Schenk Graf von Stauffenberg is the third son of Claus Schenk Graf von Stauffenberg and his wife Nina . After his father's unsuccessful assassination attempt on Adolf Hitler on July 20, 1944 , he was taken to a children's home near Bad Sachsa and given the surname “Meister”. His mother, two older brothers and younger sister Valerie and other family members were also taken into "kin custody " .

On 25 May 1965 he married in Guttenberg Elisabeth Baroness von und zu Guttenberg , daughter of Karl Theodor zu Guttenberg .

After Stauffenberg resigned from his mandate as a CSU member of the European Union , he was managing director of BVVG Bodenverwertungs- und -verwaltungs GmbH for the privatization of the formerly state- owned agricultural and forestry areas in the new federal states . The sale turned out to be difficult, because the value of the former people 's forest of the GDR was allegedly on average below the value of the western forest, which was due to the sandy soils and the exploitation of the forests during real socialism.

In connection with the commemoration of the 50th anniversary of July 20, 1994, he demanded that members of the National Committee for Free Germany and Communists who had turned against National Socialism from the Soviet Union should not be honored together with his father, also because they would also have sought a totalitarian dictatorship . He received prominent support for this demand, including from the then Federal Defense Minister Volker Rühe ( CDU ).

Franz Ludwig Schenk Graf von Stauffenberg lives in Kirchlauter Castle .
