Franz Mathis

Franz Mathis (born November 27, 1946 in Hohenems , Vorarlberg ) is an Austrian economic historian .

Mathis studied history and English at the University of Innsbruck and obtained the degree of Mag. Phil. In 1971. In 1973 he completed his studies with a doctorate in philosophy. He completed his habilitation in 1979. In 1993 he became a full professor for economic and social history at his home university. Mathis was visiting professor at the University of New Orleans , Salzburg , Trento and Bozen . Mathis is a board member of the "International Society for Historical Alpine Research". Comparative company history is also one of his main focuses. Mathis has been retired since 2010.
