Franz Matter

Franz Matter (born March 2, 1931 in Schüpfen , † October 13, 1999 in Bern ) was a Swiss actor and director .

Matter took acting lessons in the late 1940s and then played at the Bern Ateliertheater, the Stadttheater Bern , the Basler Komödie , the Lucerne Theater and the Schauspielhaus Zürich . He also directed and appeared on television and radio.

In 1958 Matter took on his first film engagement with the role of Felix in Schnyder's Gotthelf film Die Käserei in der Vehfreude . More were to follow, for example in Anne Bäbi Jowäger , Der Sittlichkeitsverbrecher and The Six Kummerbuben .

Matter was married to actress Birgit Steinegger , among others .
