Franz Sartori

Franz Sartori (born March 7, 1782 in Unzmarkt / Styria , † March 31, 1832 in Vienna ) was an Austrian writer .

Life

After successfully completing his studies in 1802, Sartori worked as an accounting clerk in Vienna for two years. Then he was entrusted in Graz with the management of the newspaper for Inner Austria . He held this office until 1806.

In that year Sartori resigned and went to Vienna. There he acted from 1807 to 1810 as editor of the Annals of Literature and Art in the Austrian Empire . During these years he studied on the side and was able to do his doctorate in medicine in Erlangen in 1808 as an “external” .

Despite a tempting offer, Sartori did not settle in Erlangen as a doctor, but went back to Vienna. There he worked - in addition to his work as an editor - in the books revision office. In 1814 he was promoted to director of this office and remained in this post until the end of his life.

In addition, from 1814 Sartori edited the Wiener Literatur-Zeitung and the Vaterländische Blätter . From 1819 he also acted as publisher of the Austrian calendar .

Franz Sartori died in Vienna on March 31, 1832 at the age of 50. He was buried at the Sankt Marxer Friedhof .
