Frederick Henry Evans (born June 26, 1853 in London , † June 24, 1943 ) was a British photographer .
Life
Born in London in 1853, Evans ran a bookstore there in the 1880s after working as a bank clerk. During this time his first contact with photography came in the form of microscopic photographs.
Evans was mainly active as an architectural photographer and is considered a master of platinum printing . In 1890 he published photos of English churches, in 1896 he took photos of churches in France. His work also includes a series on French castles. A selection of Evans' photographs was presented in Camera Work No. 4 in 1903 with accompanying texts by George Bernard Shaw .
