Friedrich Karl Biermann
Friedrich Karl Biermann (born January 9, 1872 in Bremen , † May 16, 1923 in Bremen) was a German businessman, entrepreneur in the tobacco industry and national liberal Bremen Senator (1911-1919).

Family, education and work
Biermann was born the son of the cigar manufacturer and businessman Friedrich Biermann . After graduating from high school, he completed a commercial apprenticeship in his father's company, Leopold Engelhardt & Biermann . In 1896 he became a partner and in 1906 sole owner of the company, which at that time employed around 5,000 people in 70 individual companies and was an important company in the tobacco industry. The company had exemplary social facilities for its time.
In 1913 the prestigious Villa Biermann was built for Biermann , Schwachhauser Heerstraße 64, according to plans by Carl Eeg and Eduard Runge. As a Vietor house , named after Anna Vietor , the building serves the Kippenberg-Gymnasium and is a listed building .
The painter and patron Leopold Biermann (1875–1922) was his brother.
politics
In addition to his entrepreneurial activities, Biermann was active in a large number of committees and also in local politics. In 1905 he became a member of the Bremen Chamber of Commerce . In 1909 Biermann was elected a member of the Bremen citizenship . In 1911 he became chairman of the National Liberal Association in Bremen. From 1911 to 1919 he was a senator in Bremen and in 1914 a member of the war commission. This commission had to organize the supply of the Bremen population with food. Furthermore, one of his fields of activity as a senator was the continuation of the Weser correction . After the First World War , Biermann was active in the German People's Party . As a politician, Biermann strongly advocated the interests of the tobacco industry.
