Johann Friedrich Karl Nadler (born July 4, 1847 in Döllingen ; † April 25, 1924 ) was a German educator and father of the artist Hans Nadler , who became known as a painter .

Life

The long-standing place of activity of Nadler, the Elsterschloss in Elsterwerda.

Friedrich Nadler was born in Döllingen in what is now the Elbe-Elster district in 1847, the son of a bricklayer. He attended the local village school and received private tuition from Hohenleipischer Pastor Hirsch. Since Nadler wanted to become a teacher, he came to the preparatory institute in Elsterwerda on September 29, 1863 and was accepted into the " Royal Prussian Teachers' Seminar " in Elsterwerda Castle in 1865, which he left in 1865 as " mature ".

Nadler found his first job in Merseburg , but was called up for military service in 1870 and served with the coast guard in Kiel during the Franco-German War (1870/1871) .

In Wittenberg-Friedrichstadt he started a new job after the end of the war and in November 1872 took over a newly founded half-day school in the Wittenberg Elstervorstadt. After he married that same year, his wife died giving birth to their daughter on March 3, 1874.

In October 1874 he returned to the Elsterwerda seminar as a teacher and in 1876 passed the rector's examination in Magdeburg . Two years later, on April 4, 1878, he married Anna Mansfeld (1846-1891). From this marriage on January 14, 1879, his son Hans emerged, who later became known primarily as a painter. A portrait of his father from 1901 is considered the oldest surviving painting by the artist.

For the fiftieth anniversary of the seminar in 1907, Friedrich Nadler was awarded the Prussian Royal Crown Order IV class and when he retired in January 1914, the Red Eagle Order IV class .
