Friedrich Wilhelm Schneidewin
Friedrich Wilhelm Schneidewin (born June 6, 1810 in Helmstedt , † January 11, 1856 in Göttingen ) was a German classical philologist .
From 1837, Schneidewin was an associate professor, from 1842 a full professor of classical languages and literature at the University of Göttingen . He was the first editor of the Philologus magazine, founded in 1848 . His sons were the Protestant philosopher and classical philologist Max Schneidewin (1843–1931) and the high school teacher Hermann Schneidewin (1848–1889).
