Fritz Eschmann

Fritz Eschmann (born June 7, 1909 in Dieringhausen , † February 22, 1997 in Gummersbach ) was a German officer and politician ( SPD ). He was a member of the German Bundestag .

Life and work

After attending elementary school , Eschmann completed an apprenticeship as a locksmith in the Steinmüller boiler factory from 1923 to 1927 and then worked as a journeyman locksmith in Gummersbach.

In 1932 he entered the civil service as a police sergeant and attended the police school.

From 1936 until 1945 he was a professional soldier . After attending the Wehrmacht technical school, he served - most recently as a company commander with the rank of captain - in World War II , in which, after being awarded the Iron Cross 1st and 2nd class, he was awarded the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross in 1944 .

After his release from British captivity , he first worked as a locksmith. Subsequently, after working as a foreman in 1946/47, he became managing director and chairman of the DGB district committee for the Oberbergisches Land in 1948 .

Political party

Before 1933 Eschmann belonged to the Socialist Workers' Youth . From 1945 he participated in the development of the SPD in the Oberbergischer Kreis.

MP

Eschmann belonged to the Oberbergischer Kreisag from 1948 to 1962 and from 1964 to 1969, and to the German Bundestag from 1953 to 1969. He represented the constituency of the Oberbergischer Kreis in parliament. He was u. a. Member of the Defense Committee .

Public offices

Eschmann was district administrator of the Oberbergischer Kreis from November 8, 1951 to November 20, 1952 and from November 15, 1956 to April 7, 1961.
