Friedrich Popelka
Friedrich Popelka , mostly Fritz Popelka , (* February 12, 1890 in Graz ; † February 27, 1973 ibid), was an Austrian historian, archivist , university professor and director of the Styrian State Archives in Graz.
Career
From 1900 to 1908 Fritz Popelka attended the “1. k. and k. State High School Graz " . From 1908 to 1912 he studied history and geography at the University of Graz and received his doctorate on January 20, 1913. phil. His dissertation dealt with the industrial history of Styria , a topic that corresponded to his origins (Popelka came from a well-known Gösting family of manufacturers) (printed in 1927). After his military service, he joined the Styrian State Archives in 1919, where he was director from 1950 to 1955. From 1935 he was a member of the Historical State Commission for Styria .
