history

The first FUNime, number 0, was published in October 1997, and has had a colored cover since August 1999 (number 10). Up to and including issue 37, the magazine was distributed to the members of the AnT. Issues 38 to 55 also went to the members of the Animexx association , as Funime was also its association magazine at the time. Since issue 56 (1/2009), the issues are again only distributed free of charge to members of the AnT. The magazine has been published in full color since issue 49.

Since September 2017 the name and logo of FUNime have belonged to Carow Verlag, which is planning new literature projects from the anime, manga and Japanese sectors under the name FUNime.
