Gérald Cid (born February 17, 1983 in Talence ) is a former French football player . For the 2010/11 season, Cid ended his active career.

Career

Cid comes from the talent factory in Bordeaux . For the 2004/05 season he received his first professional contract with the dark blues, but had his debut as an amateur during the second half of the 2003/04 season. Since he could not assert himself in the first professional season, he was loaned out to FC Istres in Ligue 2 the next year in order to gain match practice . There he played 24 games before returning to Bordeaux in the summer of 2006. But even in the second attempt, it was not enough for a breakthrough and in July 2007 he moved to England for Bolton Wanderers on a free transfer . After only six months, however, he ended the “Adventure England” “by mutual agreement” with the club's management and joined the OGC Nice club in his home country of France . In his first half year there, he completed nine league games.
