Götz Eduard Rehn (born March 2, 1950 in Freiburg im Breisgau ) is a German entrepreneur and managing director of the company Alnatura, which is active in the organic sector .

Live and act

Rehn comes from a family of doctors in Freiburg. His father is Jörg Rehn , his grandfather Eduard Rehn and his great-grandfather Ludwig Rehn . From 1956 he first attended elementary school and then Waldorf school in his hometown . After his family moved to the Ruhr area , he went to the Waldorf School in Bochum , where he graduated from high school in 1970. From 1970 to 1974 he studied at the Albert-Ludwigs-University of Freiburg Economics , by the way, he also took lessons from a sculptor. In April 1975 he received his degree in economics. He then did his doctorate with a dissertation on models of organizational development for Dr. rer. pole. At about the same time he met the anthroposophist Herbert Witzenmann , whose concepts he was significantly influenced in the period that followed.

From August 1978 to March 1984 he held various tasks at Nestlé AG, initially in the form of further training , then as product manager or group leader in the local chocolate department. Immediately afterwards, in April 1984, he founded a management consultancy for social organics.

After he had, according to his own statements, gained a different perspective on the relationship between people and the economy through the concept of anthroposophy , he came across Götz Werner , his later brother-in-law, the chairman of the drugstore chain dm , who shared Rehn's views and agreed to accept them support. In October 1984 Rehn founded the company Alnatura, initially under the name of Concept and Sales of Natural Food Dr. Rehn , of which he has been the sole managing partner since then. Alnatura registered as a word mark at the end of October 1984 . The company started with a shop-in-shop offer in dm and tegut stores, before the first Alnatura supermarket was opened in Mannheim on October 1, 1987 , in which, due to a lack of staff, he also initially worked as a salesperson. In the years that followed, over 90 additional branches were opened throughout Germany.

In 2000, Rehn founded Alnavit GmbH. The range includes gluten- and lactose-free products and juices, which are sold through various supermarket and drugstore chains as well as the Alnatura organic supermarkets.

Since 2014, Rehn and his company Alnatura have been in legal dispute with the largest German drugstore chain DM. Its managing director is his brother-in-law, who is also anthroposophically oriented, Götz Werner .

In June 2007 Rehn was appointed honorary professor in the economics department of the Alanus University for Art and Society , where he lectures and heads the institute for "social organics".

Social activities

Rehn is a board member of the Herbert Witzenmann Foundation , the Ringwaldverein e. V. , of Gideon Spicker e. V . as well as a member of the sponsoring association of the HB Foundation Berneburg . He is also on the Board of Trustees of the Software AG Foundation and is a member of the Advisory Board of the German Working Group for Environmentally Conscious Management (BAUM). He was also a board member of the Bund Ökologische Lebensmittelwirtschaft and the Association of Organic Supermarkets for a while .
