Günter Seidler (born September 9, 1950 in Bützow ) was a football player in Rostock and Stralsund . For FC Hansa Rostock and Vorwärts Stralsund , he played in the GDR major league . He is a six-time junior national player.

Seidler began his football career with the Lokomotive company sports club in his native Bützow. As a junior player, he was already part of the football focus of his region, the FC Hansa Rostock, with which he became GDR junior champion in 1968. As a talented defender, he noticed those responsible for the GDR junior national team, and he was included in their squad. On August 12, 1968 he was called up for the first time in a junior international match. In the encounter between the GDR and North Korea (1: 3) in a tournament between socialist countries in Hungary, he played on the position of left defender. By 1969 he completed a total of six international junior matches in various defensive positions.

In the 1969/70 season Seidler was first used in the men's division. In the 2nd team, which played in the second-rate GDR league , he had a regular place as a defender from the first day of the game. Of the 30 point games he played 21, in the following season 25 of 26 point games. It was not until his third year in the men's division that he was also used in the major league. On the 3rd matchday of the 1971/72 season he was called up in the game FC Carl Zeiss Jena - FC Hansa (2-0) as a left defender instead of Helmut Hergesell . It remained in this season with a first division game, even in the 2nd team he only played three times. Seidler had his best year at Hansa in the 1972/73 season. He regained his regular place in the 2nd team and also came between the 15th and 24th matchday to another five league appearances, of which he denied only two over the full distance.

As part of his compulsory military service, Seidler switched to the army sports community and to the league competitor Vorwärts Stralsund in 1974 . There he was used from the 11th game day (November 30, 1974) in the league and played alternately as a right or left defender 16 point games. As a climber, the Stralsund could not ensure relegation, so Seidler had to play in the GDR league again from 1975/76. On July 1, 1978 Seidler was eligible to play for the GDR league club TSG Bau Rostock . For the season 1981/82 he took over the office of team captain, in the summer of 1984 he ended his career as a competitive soccer player. He then helped out with the second TSG team.
