Gabriel Sîncrăian (born December 21, 1988 in Cluj-Napoca ) is a Romanian weightlifter .

Career

Sîncrăian was the 2010 U23 European Champion in the tear. In the same year he also took part for the first time in the world championships for active athletes, where he came seventh in the class up to 85 kg. In 2011 he was sixth at the World Championships. At the European Championships in 2012 Sîncrăian was able to win the bronze medal. In the same year he took part in the Olympic Games in London, in which, however, he did not succeed in a valid attempt in the tear. In 2013 he was fourth in a duel at the European Championships and won bronze in the snatch. In autumn, however, he was tested positive for stanozolol during a training check and was banned for two years.

After his doping ban, Sîncrăian achieved fifth place at the 2015 World Championships . He won the bronze medal at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro . He received the medal, however, because of another doping offense disallowed .
