Gabriele Giannantoni

Gabriele Giannantoni (born July 30, 1932 in Perugia , † December 18, 1998 in Rome ) was an Italian philosopher and politician.

Life

Giannantoni studied and taught philosophy at the University of Rome . Between 1968 and 1979 the Italian Communist Party was a member of parliament three times.

The main philosophical achievement of Giannantoni, who placed particular emphasis on the study of sources, was the publication of an extremely extensive collection of extant text passages on Socrates and philosophers standing in his tradition under the title Socratis et Socraticorum Reliquiae . In 1980 he founded the philosophy-historical journal Elenchos .
