Gabriele Lösekrug-Möller , née Meyer , (born April 20, 1951 in Bovenden ) is a German politician ( SPD ). She was a member of the German Bundestag from 2001 to 2017 and worked primarily in labor market and social policy. She is nicknamed LöMö .

Life and work

After completing secondary school in 1966, Gabriele Lösekrug-Möller trained as a bookseller and worked in this profession until 1974. After graduating from high school on the second educational path , she began studying social pedagogy in 1974 at the Evangelical University of Applied Sciences in Hanover , which she completed in 1979 as a qualified social pedagogue (FH). She then worked as a social pedagogue and social worker in Isernhagen until 1990 and in Hameln from 1990 to 1993. In 1995 she started her own business as a trainer and organizational consultant. Outside of parliament, she was involved in the board of trustees of the Federal Agency for Civic Education and was chairwoman of the Federal Working Group on Family Recreation in the Diakonisches Werk of the Evangelical Church in Germany until 2016. She is also the chairman of the Protestant family recreation. Since 2014 she has been President of the Lower Saxony State Association of Music Schools.

Gabriele Lösekrug-Möller is Protestant and has two sons. Her partner is the SPD member of the state parliament, Ulrich Watermann .

Political party

In 1972 Gabriele Lösekrug-Möller joined the SPD. Since May 2003 she was a board member of the SPD state association Lower Saxony , she was deputy state chairwoman from 2008 to 2016. From 1997 to 2015 she was chairwoman of the SPD subdistrict Hameln-Pyrmont . At the Hamelin sub-district party conference on April 25, 2015, she did not run again for chairmanship. Barbara Fahncke was her successor. From 1999 to 2013 she was also a member of the district executive committee of the SPD and the working group of social democratic women in Hanover ; today she is an advisory member there. Federal politics

Gabriele Lösekrug-Möller entered the Bundestag in 2001 and 2002 via the Lower Saxony state list . In 2005 , 2009 and 2013 she was directly elected in the constituency of Hameln-Pyrmont - Holzminden (2005 with 50.2%, 2009 with 39.6%, 2013 with 42.3% of the first votes ). In the Third Merkel Cabinet she was Parliamentary State Secretary from December 2013 to the Federal Minister for Labor and Social Affairs .

Since June 6, 2018 she has been chairman of the pension commission "Reliable intergenerational contract" together with Karl Schiewerling (CDU)
