Gabriele von Arnim

Gabriele von Arnim (born November 22, 1946 in Hamburg ) is a German journalist and writer .

Life

Gabriele von Arnim studied sociology and political science at the Universities of Hamburg and Frankfurt am Main . In 1972 she completed her studies with a doctorate in Hamburg. From 1973 to 1983 she lived as a freelance journalist in New York and wrote for German newspapers , magazines and radio stations .

After her return from the USA, she lived in Munich from 1983 to 1996 . In 1992 she was the initiator of the “Munich Appeal” against right-wing extremism and xenophobia . From 1996 von Arnim lived in Bonn . She works for various radio and television companies, including a. at ARTE , as moderator of the SWR show Wortwechsel or as a panelist in the Swiss television literature club .

In addition to her journalistic work, Gabriele von Arnim has also published narrative works. From 1999 to 2003 she was co-editor of the Human Rights Yearbook . She is a member of the German PEN center .
