Galeotto Franciotti della Rovere (* 1471 in Lucca , † September 11, 1507 in Rome ) was a cardinal of the Roman Church .

Life

Galeotto's parents were Luchina della Rovere, sister of Pope Julius II , and Gian Francesco Franciotti. Due to the importance of his mother's family, her descendants gave themselves the maternal surname in addition to Franciotti : Franciotti della Rovere .

The nephew of Bishop Bartolomeo and Pope Julius II was made Bishop of Lucca in October 1503 and cardinal priest of San Pietro in Vincoli on December 6, 1503 . The episcopal ordination was donated to him on April 9, 1504 by Pope Julius II personally; Co- consecrators were Cardinal Antonio Gentile Pallavicini , Bishop of Orense , and Cardinal Giovanni San Giorgio , Bishop of Parma . Since August 30, 1504 he has also been Apostolic Administrator of the Archdiocese of Benevento , and on May 27, 1505 he was also Apostolic Administrator of Cremona . He also became vice camerlengo on May 31, 1505 and Apostolic Administrator of the Diocese of Vicenza in August 1507 . He was also abbot of Nonantola near Modena and of S. Benigno di Fruttuaria near Turin .
