Game On - The C64 game magazine on diskette was published by CP Computer Publications GmbH in Nuremberg .

history

The Game On was next to the Magic Disk 64 the best-known monthly German-language C64 diskette magazine . The 5 14  inch floppy disk was equipped with a menu with background music, with which the individual games could be viewed and started. The actual magazine was on the floppy disk and had to be started on a C64 in order to be able to read the contents. The content mostly consisted of game tests and letters to the editor. Various games and sometimes scene demos were published on the second side of the disk . Available was the Game On at newsagents, kiosks and subscription at a price of 7.90 DM.

The Game On is directly from the Magic Disk 64 developed and shared with this well for a long time the menu system. The Game On was something like the game version of the Magic Disk 64 , which was aimed mainly at programmers and users. The first Game-On issue was on the shelves of retailers in mid-October 1988 and was published monthly from then on. From issue 1/94, Game On lost its independence and was sold together with Magic Disk 64 as a diskette supplement to the Amiga and PC game magazine Play Time . Game On was discontinued together with Magic Disk 64 with issue 7/95. This happened without prior notice, the last issue 7/95 contained the preview of another issue, which however never appeared. Then another magazine called Magic Disk Classic was published , which, in contrast to Game On / Magic Disk 64, was a printed magazine with a diskette insert. There were only a few editions of the Magic Disk Classic (8/95 to 1/96). It then went on in the magazine '64 .
