The Garden Tower is a high-rise on the corner of Neue Mainzer Straße and New Schlesingergasse in the city of Frankfurt am Main . The building was built in 1973–1976 for the Hessische Landesbank (Helaba) and was then simply referred to as the Helaba high-rise . The building, based on a design by Novotny Mähner Associated , was one of the first skyscrapers in Frankfurt's banking district . In 2005 it was reopened under its current name after a major renovation .
history
Until the renovation, the building was used by the Landesbank Hessen-Thüringen, now various companies (including the German branch of Société Générale , Intesa Sanpaolo , Mediobanca , Bank of New York Mellon Cerberus Capital Management , Huxley Associates and Frankfurter Sparkasse 1822 Private Banking) ) represented in the high-rise. In 1999, the Landesbank moved into office space in the neighboring Main Tower instead .
architecture
The Garden Tower consists of two towers , the higher of which towers 127 meters. Tower A has 25 floors and Tower B 15 floors. The towers were completely gutted so that only the steel and concrete framework remained. After the asbestos removal they were clad again, the polygonal shape of the building remained unchanged. A structural feature of the Garden Tower are twelve winter gardens that have been cut into the facade. Most office floors either provide direct access to your own garden or offer a view of the two-story winter gardens.
