Gartenfeld Bridge

The Gartenfeldbrücke is a bridge over the Saar route near Trier main station . It connects the two districts of Mitte and Gartenfeld of the Trier-Mitte-Gartenfeld district . It is located in the course of Gartenfeldstrasse.

history

The name of the bridge is derived from the Gartenfeld district, where only market gardens and vegetable fields were located in the 18th and 19th centuries. Today the district is primarily a business and residential area.

The bridge was renovated in 2011. The renovation was initially estimated at 90,000 euros; later, however, it turned out to be over 200,000 euros.

construction

The bridge is a concrete structure with two concrete arches. The concrete arches are anchored to the roadway via steel pipes, which hold it in place.

Trivia

It is very popular among young people in Trier to walk over the concrete arches, but this is life-threatening.
