Gary Halvorson

Gary Halvorson is an American director .

Life

He was trained as a pianist at Juilliard School , but has primarily directed sitcoms such as Friends (where he directed 47 episodes), Two and a Half Men , Rules of Engagement, and the Drew Carey Show . He also directed the children's film The Adventures of Elmo in Grummelland in 1999 . His career began directing a music show for Leonard Bernstein .

For the New York Metropolitan Opera he directed the performances of Die Zauberflöte (December 30, 2006), The Puritans (January 6, 2007), The Triptych (April 28, 2007) and Romeo and Juliet (December 15, 2007), which was broadcast in HD . Halvorson also directed Paul Simon's “You're The One” live concert in Paris .

Awards

Gary Halvorson was nominated for an Emmy nomination for a television adaptation of Carmen in 1998 and an Emmy for Everybody Loves Raymond in 2005. He also won eleven Daytime Emmy Awards .
