Gilbert Joseph Gaspard de Chabrol de Volvic (born September 25, 1773 in Riom , † April 30, 1843 in Paris ) was a French administrator. He was appointed prefect of the Seine department by Napoléon Bonaparte in 1812 and remained in that office until 1833.

Chabrol studied engineering and received his doctorate in the subject in 1794. During his tenure in Paris he was particularly responsible for the paving of numerous streets and boulevards, the construction of sidewalks and the progressive expansion of urban street lighting.

In the municipality of Volvic , whose name he bore, he created and financed a school of architecture and sculpture that still exists today. Between 1820 and 1821 he organized the first two adult education courses in Paris.

In 1822 a new street was named after him in the 10th arrondissement of Paris.
