Geodashing

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Geodashing is a sport that players play with GPS receivers. The whole earth is playing field . The aim is to reach as many randomly selected target points (so-called dashpoints ) as possible in the given time. The team with the most visited destinations won.

The game was first played in June 2001 and lasted two months. Since then, the length of a session has been fixed at one month. This is what distinguishes the game from geocaching . Due to the fact that each point only exists for one month, the number of players who can visit a point is limited. In addition, nothing is exchanged or left behind at the dashpoint .

The players often take pictures of the dashpoints and post them on the Internet .
