Georg Blank (lawyer)

Georg Blank (born October 17, 1887 in Von der Heydt ; † September 16, 1966 in Dudweiler ) was a German lawyer , politician of the Saar Democratic Party (DPS) and second mayor of the city of Neunkirchen .

Life

Georg Blank studied law and passed his first state examination in Strasbourg in 1913 . From 1915 to 1918 he served as a soldier in the First World War . In 1920 he passed the Grand State Examination and worked from February 1, 1921 to January 31, 1922 as a district syndicate in Ottweiler . He then worked until May 31, 1926 as an alderman for the mayor of Neunkirchen, Hermann Ludwig . As his successor, he became the second mayor after becoming a town on June 1, 1926. During his term of office, the gasometer explosion of 1933 fell , the effects of which he had to alleviate. In addition, he led the voting campaign in the Saar and was responsible for carrying out the Saar vote. After joining the German Reich , he was forced out of office on August 29, 1935. His successor was Hans Ruppersberg , who was mayor of Homburg up to this point . Blank was retired on the recommendation of the NSDAP and received pension payments from the city of Neunkirchen until the end of the war .

After the end of World War II , he was reinstated by the district commander on April 2, 1945, but left office on May 10, 1945 for health reasons. He then worked as a lawyer and tax advisor in Saarbrücken . Politically, he was involved in the Saar Democratic Party, for which he sat in the first state parliament of Saarland . Overall, he remained a member of the state parliament from 1946 to 1952, but left the DPS as early as 1950 and joined the two other state parliament members of the DPS to form the Democratic Group.

Blank died on September 16, 1966 in Dudweiler.
