Georg Freiherr von Vincke (born May 15, 1811 in Haus Busch (Hagen) ; † June 3, 1875 in Bad Oeynhausen ) was a German parliamentarian, administrative lawyer and manor owner in the province of Westphalia .

Life

Georg von Vincke's parents were Ludwig von Vincke and Eleonore Wilhelmine Luise Friederike geb. from Syberg . From 1828 to 1832 he studied law at the Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Berlin and the Georg-August-Universität Göttingen . In Göttingen he became a member of the Corps Guestphalia in 1828. After serving as a one-year volunteer , he worked in courts in Berlin , Minden and Münster . In 1832 he also became a member of the Corps Vandalia Rostock . He was sentenced to imprisonment for a fortress in 1833 for a duel , but was able to work at the Minden City Court while serving his sentence. From 1837 to 1848 he was district administrator for the district of Hagen . At the same time he managed his own Busch estate.

In 1843 he became a member of the Westphalian Provincial Parliament , and in 1847 in the United State Parliament he was known as one of the leading Rhenish-Westphalian liberals. On August 31, 1848, he married in Wolfsburg Helene Sophie Bertha von der Schulenburg- Wolfsburg (* July 31, 1827, † August 18, 1905 in Braunschweig), a daughter of the politician Werner von der Schulenburg-Wolfsburg . From May 20, 1848 to May 24, 1849 he was a member of the 13th Westphalian constituency in the Frankfurt National Assembly . There he was one of the spokesmen for Café Milani , the conservative and Greater German parliamentary group . He was a member of several committees.

At the time of the German Revolution of 1848/49 he sat in the Gotha Assembly and in the Erfurt Union Parliament . In 1849 he became a member of the Prussian Second Chamber . In Berlin, Vincke held a key position as a liaison between the Frankfurt National Assembly and the Prussian Parliament. He initially belonged to the conservative faction, but moved to the left in 1852. He was one of the main opponents of Otto Theodor von Manteuffels . On March 25, 1852 there was a duel between Vincke and Bismarck . From 1859 he was the spokesman for the moderate liberals, who were named after himself as the Vincke party and later as the old liberals . Vincke supported the politics of the New Era and after its end came into conflict with the conservative politics of Otto von Bismarck . From February to August 1867, Vincke sat in the constituent Reichstag of the North German Confederation. He died at the age of 64.
