George DeTitta Jr.

George DeTitta Jr. (born February 14, 1955 ) is a production designer .

Life

DeTitta began his career on the film staff in 1981 at the side of his father George DeTitta Sr. in Miloš Forman's drama Ragtime . For this first film work, he received an Oscar nomination in the category Best Production Design in 1982 , but this year the award went to Raiders of the Lost Ark . Until 1986 he worked on four more feature films with his father.

In 1987 he worked for Woody Allen for the first time at September , and until 1991 he worked on five of his films. For Allen's comedy Radio Days , he was nominated for another Oscar in 1988 together with Santo Loquasto , Leslie Bloom and Carol Joffe , but this time again he could not win the award.

From the late 1990s he also worked for television, including the crime series Law & Order: Special Victims Unit and Shades of Blue . For his work on the miniseries Angels in America by Mike Nichols , he won a 2004 Primetime Emmy . He was also nominated three times for the Excellence in Production Design Award of the Art Directors Guild , which he won in 2015 for Birdman or (The Unexpected Power of Cluelessness) .
